Otitis Externa (Swimmer’s Ear)
Outer Ear Infections are an infection of the ear canal. This is caused when the inside of the ear canal stays wet for a long period of time. The skin inside of the ear canal becomes infected with bacteria which can cause severe earaches which worsen with pulling or touching of the child's ear. Treatment is done with antibiotic ear drops which can be prescribed by your pediatrician. The child should avoid getting the ear wet while receiving treatment.
